Welcome to Guitar With Christina!

Goals
I am dedicated to providing my students with quality music education and a lifelong appreciation of music. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging setting - EVERYONE CAN LEARN, if the environment is right. Through my lessons, students will develop musical talent as well as personal self esteem, and will experience the joy of playing and singing.

The Program
"Guitar With Christina" is a music program within Sycamore Strings Academy for children who wish to sing and play chords on their guitars. As a guitar player, singing is as important as playing.

Small group classes are offered for beginners starting 2nd - 5th grade, as well as continuing students. Beginners will learn the basics of guitar chord playing and will learn to sing favorite songs to their own accompaniment. Continuing students will learn additional chords, songs, and new playing techniques like plucking and tabulator (playing melodies on guitar).

The weekly group lessons have 2-3 players where each student gets semi-individual attention. Everyone is supported at the same time in making music together as a group.

I will provide each student with an individualized songbook. 

Students will need their own guitar. I will be happy to assist you in selecting one. I recommend guitars with nylon strings for beginners. There are some rental guitars available from the school.

Several times during the year all students take part in sing-alongs, events when all guitar students sing and play together. The families are invited to attend and sing along. These events are fun and inspiring! Performances are important opportunities for students to show what they have learned, to be recognized, and to share the music with an audience. Sometimes the guitar program will also perform with the violin and cello students from Sycamore Strings Academy.

As students of Sycamore Strings Academy (SSA), a leading music instruction program in the Bay Area, each family will get a quarterly newsletter with information about the latest in music education and performance, plus invitation to all SSA's performances.

How long are the lessons?
30 minutes

When are the lessons?
The school year is divided into three sessions. The longest session (13 weeks) goes from mid September through mid December. The second and third sessions are 9-10 weeks. The year ends in mid June. Summer classes will be offered.

Location?
Our Guitar & Violin Studio in Livermore. Call and ask for directions and other locations in the tri-valley area.

Tuition
Fee for a 30 minute lesson is $21. The session with 13 lessons is $273. The songbook is included in the tuition. There is a one time enrollment fee of $30 per family.

Enrollment, Refunds and Make-up Lessons?
Enrollment throughout the year. The last day to receive a refund is 7 days before the class starts. There is a $20 processing fee for all refunds. If instructor has to cancel a lesson, make-up lessons will be scheduled. All other make-up lessons are done at the teacher's discretion.  Sibling Discount: $20/Session
